Vancouver, WA – This month, Clark County Environmental Services will sponsor a three-week challenge to promote waste reduction and sustainable living.

County residents are encouraged to sign up online to take the WasteBusters pledge and decrease what goes to landfills by committing to one of three waste-busting actions:

  • Bring reusable bags to the grocery store
  • Use reusable beverage containers for to-go drinks
  • Designate one day a week to eat leftovers

The deadline to submit an application is 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26.

Vancouver, WA ‒ Clark County Public Health has replaced a 100-year-old paper process for collecting death records with the state’s new Electronic Death Records System. Funeral directors, physicians, the Clark County Medical Examiner and local deputy registrars now can use a secure website to complete and approve death records without making a trip to the Public Health department.

Vancouver, WA ‒ Clark County Public Health received a two-year, $100,000 grant from the United Stated Department of Agriculture’s Farm to School Program to pay for a project to connect Vancouver Public Schools students with more regionally sourced food and food system education. The grant takes effect Dec. 1.

Vancouver, WA – Michael D. Smith of Battle Ground has won an iPad Mini for taking an online quiz testing how much Clark County residents know about recycling. A random number generator selected Smith from approximately 2,000 people who took the quiz. Clark County Department of Environmental Services confirmed he was among those who received a passing grade by answering at least 75 percent of the questions correctly.
