Clark County Public Works is redesigning two intersections in the Northeast 179th Street corridor. The intersections of Northeast 29th Avenue and Northeast 50th Avenue, both on Northeast 179th Street, are anticipated to go to construction in the summer of 2024. These intersections are currently controlled by a single-lane, four-way stop. This area is anticipated to have significant growth over the next 20 years. Upgrades to the intersections will accommodate future traffic volumes while maintaining safety and mobility.
It was determined that the addition of left-turn channelization in the East and West legs of the intersection while maintaining the four-way stop controlled intersection would serve as an interim project. These upgrades are necessary to accommodate additional traffic volumes associated with future residential and commercial growth in the area. Traffic studies show that this interim project will maintain an acceptable level of service until 2035.
