Hwy 99 Sidewalk

HWY 99 Sidewalk (NE 102nd St. to NE 104th St.)

HWY 99 Sidewalk (NE 102nd St. to NE 104th St.)

The project will construct a sidewalk along the East side of Highway 99, spanning from the vicinity of Northeast 102nd Street to Northeast 104th Street. Additionally, a portion of the South side of Northeast 104th Street will be included in the sidewalk construction to connect with an existing sidewalk. The project also includes pedestrian safety enhancements at Tenny Creek crossing, an extension of guardrail along Highway 99 in the southern direction, potential landscaping improvements, and potential stormwater management enhancements.

Bus stops along the corridor serve a large number of riders on a regular basis.  Completing missing segments of sidewalks is ranked as a number-one priority in the Highway 99 to encourage pedestrian mobility and improve streetscapes. The importance of these segments of sidewalks to connect under-served residents to grocery stores, shopping and additional transit options.

This project is still in early stages of design. Updates will be posted as they become available.

Budget
The total budget identified for the project is $1 million.  The County has requested a grant for $545,000 for design and construction. The remaining balance of the construction cost will be paid for using the County Road Fund.
