PROJECT
The 2024 preservation and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) improvements project will construct and/or upgrade sidewalk curb ramps, fill in missing sidewalk portions, and install upgrades to associated signal and/or push button systems at various locations in Clark County, to meet current ADA regulations. The project also includes installing detectable warning surface (DWS) in various locations. DWS is a bumpy, textured surface that provides guidance for visually impaired pedestrians.
Group 1 work includes constructing or reconstructing 34 ramps and installing 35 detectible warning surface (DWS) ramps associated with the county’s hot mix asphalt project at locations throughout the county. Click here for a map of the 2024 Preservation ADA Improvements Group 1 ramp locations.
Group 2 work includes constructing or reconstructing 26 ramps, filling in missing portions of sidewalk, and installing 13 DWS ramps associated with the county’s cape seal (road surface preservation) project at locations throughout the county. Group 3 work includes constructing or reconstructing 23 ramps and installing 7 detectible warning surface (DWS) ramps associated with the county’s hot mix asphalt project at locations throughout the county. Click here for a map of the 2024 Preservation ADA Improvements Group 3 ramp locations.
SCHEDULE AND TRAFFIC
Construction is expected to begin in June 2025 and be completed that summer. The project is in the initiation phase. As the project moves forward with survey and design, updated information and construction details will be shared with neighbors via mail. Project updates will also be posted on this webpage.
For the safety of workers and the public, temporary lane and/or sidewalk closures or detours may occasionally be needed near project sites. Advance notice will be posted and shared with the community.
FUNDING
The total project cost is anticipated to be $1,800,000 and is funded by the county’s road fund.

The ADA Compliance project will construct or upgrade sidewalk curb ramps to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) regulations at various locations in Clark County.
This work includes constructing or reconstructing 26 ramps at 19 locations:
- One location at Northeast Delfel Road
- One location at Northeast 20th Avenue
- 11 locations along Northwest and Northeast 149th Street
- One location at Northwest 11th Avenue
- Three locations along Northeast 119th Street
- One location along Northeast 50th Avenue
- Two locations along Northeast 39th Street
- Six locations along Northeast 172nd Avenue
SCHEDULE AND TRAFFIC
Construction is expected to begin in April and be complete by July. For the safety of workers and the public, intermittent single-lane closures near project sites may be needed. Advanced notice will be given prior to any lane closures.

PROJECT
The 2022 Preservation ADA Improvements (Group 1) project will construct and upgrade sidewalk curb ramps at various locations in Clark County, in order to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act, or ADA, regulations.
This work includes constructing or reconstructing 24 ramps in the following areas:
- Nine locations on Northeast 50th Avenue
- Three locations on Northeast 80th Avenue
- Ten locations on Northeast 76th Street
- Two locations on Southeast Crown Road
SCHEDULE AND TRAFFIC
Construction is expected to begin in May and end in July 2022. For the safety of workers and the public, intermittent single-lane closures near project sites may be needed. Advanced notice will be given prior to any lane closures.
CONTRACTOR
The project will be completed by Clark and Son’s Excavating, Inc., of Battle Ground.
FUNDING
The total project cost is approximately $350,000, funded by the county’s road fund.

The 2022 Preservation ADA Improvements Groups 2A & 3 project will construct or upgrade sidewalk curb ramps to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) regulations.
Group 2A work includes constructing or reconstructing twenty-nine ramps at the following locations throughout Clark County:
- Seven locations on Northwest Ashley Heights Drive
- Eight locations on Northwest 114th Street
- Fourteen locations on Northeast 42nd Avenue
Group 3 work includes installing detectable warning surfaces on 52 ramps throughout the county. The detectable warning surfaces (bumpy, textured surface) provide guidance for visually impaired pedestrians.
SCHEDULE AND TRAFFIC
Construction is expected to begin March and end in mid-May. For the safety of workers and the public, intermittent single-lane closures near project sites may be needed. Advanced notice will be given prior to any lane closures.

The 2022 Preservation ADA Improvements Group 2C project will construct and upgrade sidewalk curb ramps to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) regulations.
This work includes constructing or reconstructing 37 ramps and filling five areas of incomplete sidewalk (“infill”) at the following locations throughout Clark County:
- Four ramp locations and one sidewalk infill on :

- One ramp location on Northwest 121st Street
- One ramp location on Northeast 10th Avenue
- Three ramp locations on Northwest 2nd Avenue

- Ten ramp locations and one sidewalk infill on Northwest 111th Street
- One sidewalk infill on Northwest 18th Avenue
- One ramp location and one sidewalk infill on Northwest 106th Street
- Four ramp locations and one sidewalk infill on Northwest 24th Avenue
- Five ramp locations on Northwest 11th Court

This work includes constructing or reconstructing 22 ramps at 14 locations throughout Clark County:

For the safety of workers and users of the corridor, Clark County Public Works may close portions of one travel lane intermittently during construction, which is expected between January 2022 - April 2022. Advanced notice will be given prior to any lane closures.
CONTRACTOR
Clark County awarded the construction contract to Halme Excavating Inc. of Battle Ground, Wash., which submitted the lowest of six bids received.
FUNDING
The project cost is approximately $330,000 construction, paid for by the county’s Road Fund.
PROJECT
The 2021 Preservation ADA Improvements - Group 1 project will construct or upgrade sidewalk curb ramps to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act, or ADA, regulations prior to pavement preservation work.
This work includes constructing or reconstructing 29 ramps at 14 locations in the Felida area between Northwest 119th Street and Northwest Bliss Road, Five Corners area east of Northeast 72nd Avenue and Orchards area east of State Route 503:
- Eleven locations on Northwest 36th Avenue
- Two locations on Northeast 99th Street
- One location on Northeast 124th Avenue

Clark County awarded the construction contract to Clark and Son’s Excavating, Inc. of Battle Ground, Wash., which submitted the lowest of seven bids received.

PROJECT
The 2021 Preservation ADA Improvements - Group 2 project will construct or upgrade sidewalk curb ramps to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) regulations prior to pavement preservation work. This work includes constructing or reconstructing 50 ramps at 15 locations in the Orchards area of Vancouver between SR-503 and Northeast Ward Road:
• Two locations on Northeast 100th Street
• Two locations on Northeast 137th Place
• One location on Northeast 138th Avenue
• Four locations on Northeast 139th Avenue
• One location on Northeast 140th Avenue
• Four locations on Northeast 148th Avenue

This work includes constructing or reconstructing 10 ramps at six locations throughout Clark County:
• Two locations on Northeast Hazel Dell Avenue
• Two locations on Northeast 107th Avenue
• One location on Northeast 58th Avenue
• One location on Northeast 66th Avenue
The 2021 Preservation ADA Improvements Group 3 project will install detectable warning surfaces on 89 ramps throughout the county. The detectable warning surfaces provide guidance for visually impaired pedestrians.
