Public can expect seamless transition following move from CASEE in Brush Prairie

Vancouver, WA – Clark County Vegetation Management has moved to new offices on the first floor of the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St.

Vegetation Management is responsible, by state law, for controlling noxious weeds. The division consists of the Clark County Weed Board’s five members, appointed by the Board of County Councilors, and 11 county employees.

Vegetation Management previously was based at the Center for Agriculture, Science and Environmental Education (CASEE) in Brush Prairie. The center opted not to renew its lease with Clark County, which required the program to find a new home.

The move should be relatively seamless for the public. Vegetation Management is open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Many noxious weed questions can be answered by calling (360) 397-6140.

People looking for weed identification assistance can bring a sample to the Public Service Center or request a field inspector come to their property. Please call ahead to arrange a field inspection or to meet a staff member in the Public Service Center’s first-floor lobby.

“We do get occasional walk-ins from county residents seeking assistance in identifying a potentially noxious weed,” said Kevin Tyler, Vegetation Management Division Manager. “We want to be sure people understand where to find us and how to contact us.”

Vegetation Management will become part of Public Works on Friday, July 1, one element of a cost-saving reorganization County Manager Mark McCauley announced last month.

Vegetation Management eventually could move to the Public Works’ 78th Street Operations Center, 4700 N.E. 78th St.
