Vancouver, Wash. – Clark County will close a section of Northeast Lockwood Creek Road east of La Center next month so a contractor can install a retaining wall and guardrail to improve safety.

Beginning Monday, July 10, Northeast Lockwood Creek Road will be closed to through traffic from Northeast 40^th Avenue east to Northeast Morcroft Road. The closure is expected to last about six weeks. Residents of the area, emergency vehicles and deliveries will have access.

A shorter section of Northeast Lockwood Creek Road ‒ from Northeast 60^th Avenue east to about the 6900 block of Lockwood Creek Road ‒ will be closed to all traffic. Residents who live in the closed area will have access to their homes.

Clark County has notified police, fire and ambulance agencies prior to construction, as well as the U.S. Postal Service. School buses will not be affected since construction should be completed prior to the start of the 2017-2018 school year.

This project is partially paid for by a $1.24 million grant from the federal Highway Safety Improvement Program. This grant also helped paid for safety improvements on two other county roads.
