Picnic shelter
Pacific Community Park's picnic shelter can be reserved for a $75 fee.
The picnic shelter can be reserved up to 334 days in advance for events taking place April 1 through October 31. The shelter must be reserved at least seven days in advance of the event.
If the shelter has not been reserved, it is available for free on a first-come, first-served basis. All shelters are available on a first-come, first-served basis at no charge, November 1 through March 31.
Dakota Memorial Dog Park
This 8-acre off-leash area is on the north side of Pacific Community Park, on Northeast 18th Street between 164th and 172nd Avenue. It is fully fenced with two double-gated entrances accessible from the two parking lots inside the community park. Dogs must be leashed in the parking lot and in all other areas outside the fenced dog park.
The dog park features a gravel perimeter trail through open lawn and forested areas, a rustic log agility course, benches and drinking fountains. A dog rinse-off area is on the back side of the restroom on the west side of the park, closest to Northeast 164th Avenue. Dogs must be leashed at the rinse-off area.
The park is named in honor of Dakota, a former Vancouver Police Department canine who was killed while tracking a suspect in October 2007.
Clark County and the City of Vancouver have partnered with Dog Owners Group for Park Access in Washington, or DOGPAW, to help identify, develop and maintain new off-leash areas. DOGPAW also collaborates with other agencies, including the Bonneville Power Administration, to develop dog parks.
Extreme sports area
Pacific Community Park is the only county-owned park to feature a large extreme sports area for skaters and BMXers. This 10,000-square-foot extreme sports area was built in 2007. Grindline developed the design for the extreme sports area with input from local skaters and BMXers. The result was a park that combined street and vert/bowl features in a configuration that accommodated BMX riders and skateboarders of a variety of skill levels.
Long-term plans call for developing another 10,000 square feet of the skate park. Donations to help build the second phase can be made through the Parks Foundation of Clark County.
Extreme sports area rules:
- This park is unsupervised. Use at your own risk.
- This park is open to extreme sports enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels.
- Know your own abilities, be safe and respect those who have different skill levels or methods.
- When riding, look up and communicate your path.
- Helmets, elbow pads, knee pads and other protective clothing are strongly recommended.
- No glass containers, motorized vehicles or foreign objects (jumps, launch ramps, etc.)
- Respect the hard work that went into making this place possible and be a good neighbor.
- Keep noise levels down, pick up after yourself and don’t vandalize.
If you see someone acting inappropriately, be a mentor and share tips on park etiquette.

2022 park master plan update project
In 2022 we completed a master plan update for Pacific Community Park. This update included the addition of four pickleball courts. We are beginning a project to construct the pickleball courts and a multi-purpose sports field. The field was part of the original park master plan.
Funding
The project is funded by Real estate excise taxes collected whenever homes are sold in Clark County, and park impact fees collected when new residential property is developed.
