The intersection of Northeast 149th Street and Northeast 10th Avenue in the Salmon Creek area of Clark County will close April 25 as contractors for Clark County Public Works begin construction of several roadway improvements.

The monthlong closure will begin on April 25, unless inclement weather causes the project start date to be delayed. A detour will take motorists east/west on Northeast 146th Street and north/south on Northeast 4th Avenue. To avoid the detour, drivers can travel north/south on Northwest 21st Avenue between Northwest 139th Street and Northwest 149th Street. Drivers are urged to use this alternative route, rather than the detour, to minimize traffic impacts to the adjacent neighborhood.

Drivers should continue to use alternate routes for the duration of the closure and obey all traffic signs. Local residences and businesses will remain accessible during the closure.

This closure is part of Northeast 10th Avenue improvements, including installation of a center left-turn lane, bike lanes, sidewalks, and a signal at the intersection with Northeast 149th Street. The project includes installation of a new culvert at the creek crossing north of Northeast 149th Street. Other improvements include the installation of retaining walls, a sanitary sewer main, water main and stormwater facilities.

All contracted work is expected to be completed summer of 2022.
