Vancouver, Wash. – Out of an abundance of caution, and in accordance with state and county guidelines issued regarding the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, Clark County Public Works has closed Luke Jensen Sports Park to all public events and activities. Private rentals scheduled to take place during the closure are canceled and will be fully refunded.

The front desk reception areas will be closed at the county’s Public Service Center building on the fourth floor, and at the 78th Street Operations Office effective immediately. All closures will remain in place through April 1. Closures will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis at that time.

With the closure of in-person services at the Public Service Center’s fourth floor reception desk, regular drop-in customers for the Clark County Public Works Survey Department can call 564.397.4228 or email surveyreview@clark.wa.gov to arrange drop-off or pick-up of survey-related documents.

Public Works staff will continue to work on essential projects and will respond to requests for service in a capacity that minimizes public interaction. Urgent road concerns can be reported by calling 564.397.2446, or by submitting your comments online: https://www.clark.wa.gov/public-works/report-park-road. Other Public Works questions can be answered by calling 564.397.4094.

“These are never easy decisions to make,” said Public Works Director Ahmad Qayoumi. “However, we believe social distancing is an important part of helping to slow the rate of exposure in our community, and the safety of the public and our staff is our top priority.”

Activities at Heritage Farm are managed by multiple community partners. Some activities are suspended, and some will be limited to comply with social-distancing recommendations. Regular users of the farm should contact their specific program to verify scheduled and canceled activities and events.

With the exception of Luke Jensen Sports Park, most Clark County parks and trails remain open. While Public Works is proud to provide the community with a venue to get outside and stay active, it is still highly recommended to follow social-distancing protocols. Seasonally closed restrooms will remain closed. Due to limited capacity and safety protocols for staff, Clark County Public Works cannot guarantee regular cleaning and sanitizing schedules of parks amenities. Please use good judgment and follow public health tips and protocols.
