Vancouver, WA – Clark County and the city of Washougal will hold a Green Neighbors Recycling Day event and Debris Day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at the Washougal Transfer Station, 4020 S. Grant St.
Clark County residents can drop off block foam, electronic equipment, old tires without rims, refrigerators, freezers, air conditioning units and scrap metal. Participants are limited to five tires per person. No business waste will be accepted.
Washougal residents also will have the opportunity to dispose of up to two cubic yards of household garbage and/or yard debris at this event. Garbage will be accepted for free, with a coupon, at the Washougal Transfer Station. Yard debris will be accepted for free, with a coupon, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Triangle Resources, 612 S.E. Union St.
Washougal residents received coupons in the mail, but they also can print copies at www.cityofwashougal.us/community/page/debris-recycling-day.
Household hazardous waste (HHW) such as paints, pesticides, poisons, automotive fluids and chemicals will NOT be accepted at this event. People can dispose of household hazardous waste for free at these three transfer stations:
- Washougal Transfer Station, 4020 S. Grant St.
8 a.m.- 4 p.m., third Saturday of the month - Central Transfer and Recycling Center, 11034 N.E. 117th Ave.
8 a.m.- 4 p.m., Friday, Saturday and Sunday - West Vancouver Materials Recovery Center, 6601 N.W. Old River Road,
8 a.m.- 4 p.m., Friday and Saturday
Residents who take household hazardous waste to the transfer stations between April 1 and Oct. 31 can enter to win a $20 gift card.
“Make sure there are no recyclables in your garbage,” said Don Benton, Environmental Services director. “Let’s divert as much as we can from the landfill.”
Green Neighbors, an Environmental Services program, will sponsor the event in partnership with Washougal. A Washington State Department of Ecology grant provides funding.
Recycling Day Events are free and open to all Clark County residents. Proof of residency, such as a driver’s license or other identification with an address, may be required.
