Vancouver, WA – Clark County residents will have opportunities this September and October to safely dispose of household hazardous wastes and other materials, including block foam, during the county’s free Green Neighbors Recycling Days. The three Recycling Day events are scheduled for: • Sept. 12, Clark College (Yellow Lot 1), 1900 Fort Vancouver Way • Sept. 19, Fisher’s Landing Transit Center, 3510 S.E. 164th Ave. • Oct. 3, Battle Ground High School, 300 W. Main St. (enter on North Parkway Avenue) Clark County residents can drop off household hazardous wastes including pesticides, paints, solvents, thinners, motor oils and cleaners. Block foam, electronic equipment, old tires without rims, refrigerators, freezers, air conditioning units and scrap metal also will be accepted. In addition, each event will partner with local food banks to collect nonperishable food donations. “These events provide convenient drop-off options for thousands of customers to recycle bulky items and potentially dangerous waste and help other residents at the same time,” said Don Benton, Environmental Services director. Green Neighbors, an Environmental Services program, will sponsor the events in partnership with local cities and the town of Yacolt. A Washington State Department of Ecology grant provides funding. Recycling Day events are free and open to all Clark County residents. Proof of residency, such as a driver’s license or other identification with an address, may be required. No business waste will be accepted. Participants are limited to five tires per person per day. Some events will provide shredding for a limited amount of paper.
