Vancouver, WA – Clark County Environmental Services and the city La Center will hold a free Green Neighbors Recycling Day Event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at Holley Park, 1000 E. 4th St.
County residents can drop off block foam, electronic equipment, old tires without rims, refrigerators, freezers, air conditioning units and scrap metal. Participants are limited to five tires per vehicle. No business waste will be accepted.
Shredding will be offered at this event, with a limit of two banker boxes per person.
Household hazardous waste (HHW) such as paints, pesticides, poisons, automotive fluids and chemicals will NOT be accepted at this event. County residents can dispose of household hazardous waste for free at these three transfer stations:
- Central Transfer and Recycling Center, 11034 N.E. 117th Ave., 8 a.m.-4 p.m., Friday, Saturday and Sunday,
- West Vancouver Materials Recovery Center, 6601 N.W. Old River Road, 8 a.m.-4 p.m., Friday and Saturday
- Washougal Transfer Station, 4020 S. Grant St., 8 a.m.-4 p.m., third Saturday of the month
“North county residents won’t want to miss this great opportunity, but all county residents are welcome,” said Don Benton, Environmental Services director.
A Washington State Department of Ecology grant provided funding.
“I highly encourage La Center residents to take advantage of this great opportunity to dispose of tires and other hard to recycle items,” said La Center Mayor Greg Thornton.
Recycling Day Events are free and open to all Clark County residents. Proof of residency, such as a driver’s license or other identification with an address, may be required.
Residents who take household hazardous waste to the transfer stations between April 1 and Oct. 31 can enter to win a $20 gift card.
