Vancouver, Wash. – Residents of the Hazel Dell area and west Vancouver now have a more convenient place to take used or leftover paint: Filbin’s Ace Hardware. The store has joined the county’s Paint Take-Back program and accepts latex and oil-based paint for recycling, for free.

Ten local paint stores now accept used or leftover paint during business hours. They are:

• Filbin’s Ace Hardware, 809 N.E. Minnehaha St.
• Habitat for Humanity ReStore, 10811 S.E. Mill Plain Blvd.
• Miller Paint, 14300 N.E. 20th Ave.
• Miller Paint, 9609 N.E. 117th Ave.
• Miller Paint, 2607 N.E. Andresen Road
• Miller Paint, 111 N.E. 164th Ave.
• North County Hardware, 40600 N.E. 221st Ave., Amboy
• Parkrose Hardware, 16509 S.E. First St.
• Parkrose Hardware, 8000 E. Mill Plain Blvd.
• Rodda Paint & Décor, 7723 N.E. Fourth Plain Blvd.

Partially filled paint containers also can be dropped at transfer stations for free most weekends:

• Central Transfer and Recycling Center, 11034 N.E. 117th Ave., 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Friday-Sunday
• West Van Materials Recovery Center, 6601 N.W. Old Lower River Road, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday
• Washougal Transfer Station, 4020 S. Grant St., Washougal, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. third Saturday of the month

Latex-based paint dropped off at any of these stores or facilities is recycled into new paint. Oil-based paint is repurposed as an alternative fuel.
