• Community Services

Clark County has implemented and currently operates eviction prevention rent assistance programs to assist people who are low-income impacted by the pandemic. These programs have provided an unprecedented $33.7 million in financial assistance to 4,225 households, paying for 36,444 months of rent and utilities since August 2020. Approximately $700,000 in financial assistance for rent and utilities is going out to about 90 additional households each week.


• Public Health

Clark County Solid Waste and Environmental Outreach encourages people to take steps to reduce waste as they celebrate the holidays.

Household waste in the U.S. and Clark County typically increases 20% to 25% between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day. Trash cans fill up with holiday food waste, shopping bags, bows and ribbons, packaging, and wrapping paper that contribute an additional 1 million tons a week to our country’s landfills. But by taking a few simple steps to reduce, reuse and recycle, the holiday season can be a little greener.


• Elections

Every election, the Clark County Auditor’s Office provides an online and printed voters’ guide with information about candidates and ballot measures for voters to make an informed decision when voting. The voters’ guide includes statements by and photographs of candidates for elective offices as well as local ballot measures with supporting and opposing statements written by citizens.


• County Manager

The Clark County Charter Review Commission this week voted to place six charter amendment proposals on the November 2022, general election ballot.

• Elections

On Monday, Dec. 6, 2021, a mandatory manual recount began of the ballots cast in the Nov. 2, 2021, General Election for City of Vancouver Councilor, Position No. 1 race and Hockinson School District Director, District No. 1 position was conducted and is now complete.


• Public Works

Vancouver, Wash. – Annual parking passes for four of Clark County’s biggest, most popular parks will go on sale Tuesday, Dec. 7.

2022 passes cost $30 and will be valid at Frenchman’s Bar Regional Park, Lewisville Regional Park, Salmon Creek Regional Park/Klineline Pond and Vancouver Lake Regional Park.


• Community Services

The Clark County Council is seeking community members with expertise in or experience with people with intellectual/developmental disabilities to serve on the Developmental Disabilities Advisory Board. 

There are four positions to fill. One opening is an unexpired term running through Dec. 31, 2022. The remaining three are full three-year terms starting in January 2022.


• Public Health

Clark County is accepting nominations for the 2022 Green Awards, an annual celebration and awards program recognizing leaders in environmental sustainability.

Clark County Public Health is seeking nominations for organizations and individuals who consider the environment in decision-making and practices. Self-nominations are encouraged.

Nominations are being accepted in the following categories:


• Community Planning

Clark County is hosting a public meeting at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 14, to collect feedback on draft Housing Action Plan recommendations. Participants will view an update on the project and share their thoughts on a set of draft housing strategy recommendations. The meeting will be held via Zoom and recorded for later viewing. A questionnaire will also be made available to collect public comments and feedback.

The Clark County Commission on Aging recognizes that organizations and individuals who support our community have had to be flexible during the pandemic in order to connect people to vital resources and information. We also know that isolation from daily activities with family and friends has been difficult for many aging adults in our county.
