Vancouver, WA – The Clark County Children’s Sharing Project has served local children and families since 1985. Volunteers will continue the gift-giving tradition by shopping for hundreds of children staring at 7 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, and they are asking for the community’s help.

What you can do:
Stop by the shopping event at Grand Central Fred Meyer, 2500 Columbia House Blvd. and drop off a financial donation to the Children’s Sharing Project.

Donations also can be sent to Children’s Sharing Project, c/o Community Services, P.O. Box 5000, Vancouver, WA 98666-5000.

Families served by the project receive services from local charitable organizations such as food banks, the Children’s Home Society, ARC and Neighbors Helping Neighbors. The charities advise project volunteers on the children’s special “gift wishes”.

“We work throughout the year on money raising events to prepare for this day,” said county employee Harold Rains. “It is rewarding at the annual shopping event to see those efforts benefit children in our community.”

The Children’s Sharing Project started when a group of county employees raised money to purchase holiday gifts for children living in a homeless shelter near county offices. It has grown to serve more than 1,000 children during the holidays. Volunteers also collect and distribute school supplies and provide limited assistance for emergency needs.
