About Community Planning

Community Planning’s mission is to work with our community partners to improve Clark County’s long term quality of life. The department’s staff members help residents envision their community’s future and work to put into place strategies that will help accomplish that vision. We are a small department, but we provide a wide variety of professional services focused on making Clark County the best place to live, work and play.

Community Planning is responsible for the development and administration of the County’s comprehensive plan, implements ordinances and other related planning activities. The department also administers the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Council, the Commission on Aging, the Historic Preservation Commission and the Planning Commission.

Work Plan

Each year, typically in late fall, Community Planning reviews the next year’s work plan with the Clark County Council. The goal is to focus limited resources on the community’s highest priorities, and to use those resources as efficiently as possible while creating the best chances for each effort to succeed.

Community Planning's 2024 Work Plan was approved by County Council on Feb 22, 2024.
