Vancouver, WA – The report of an independent, unbiased investigation into allegations that arose during the three-year update of Clark County’s Comprehensive Growth Management Plan was released Wednesday, ending a more than three-month process.

Seattle attorney Rebecca Dean, who specializes in workplace investigations, was hired March 25, 2016 to look into:

Vancouver, WA – The county manager is seeking applicants for a low-income representative opening on the Community Action Advisory Board (CAAB). The opening is for CAAB District 2, which is roughly east of Interstate 205 between 18th and 99th streets and roughly east of 164th Avenue from south of 159th Street to the Columbia River.

Vancouver, WA  ̶  The Clark County Arts Commission is seeking nominations for the fourth Lifetime Achievement Award, which recognizes an artist who lives or works in the county and has made a significant contribution to local, national or international arts and culture.

Public can expect seamless transition following move from CASEE in Brush Prairie

Vancouver, WA – Clark County Vegetation Management has moved to new offices on the first floor of the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St.

Vegetation Management is responsible, by state law, for controlling noxious weeds. The division consists of the Clark County Weed Board’s five members, appointed by the Board of County Councilors, and 11 county employees.


• Community Planning

Vancouver, WA – The Board of County Councilors is accepting applications from local organizations for grants that encourage historic preservation and programs, including preservation of historic documents.

Applications for 2017 Historical Promotion Grants must be received by the Historic Preservation Commission by late September.

The commission will review applications in the fall and submit recommendations to the Board of County Councilors in November. Grants will be awarded in December and available in January 2017.


• Auditor

Citizens who are not currently registered to vote in the state of Washington may register for the Aug. 2, 2016 primary and special election by appearing in person at the Clark County Elections Office, 1408 Franklin Street, Vancouver through Monday, July 25. 

All voters in Clark County will receive ballots for this election.

• Public Works

Vancouver, WA – Two more neighborhood parks will be built this summer to provide additional recreation within easy walking distance of nearby residents.

County Manager Mark McCauley this week awarded a $934,700 contract to Robertson & Olson Construction Inc. of Camas to build Sorenson Neighborhood Park in the Felida area and Tower Crest Neighborhood Park in the East Minnehaha area.

Construction is expected to begin in July and wrap up this fall, before the start of rainy weather.


• Elections

On Tuesday, June 28, beginning at 2 p.m., the Clark County Elections Office will conduct a logic and accuracy test of the programming to be used to tabulate ballots and the accessible voting units for the August 2, 2016 Primary and Special Election.  The test will be held at the Clark County Elections Office, 1408 Franklin Street, Vancouver.  Ballots will be mailed on July 15. Members of the news media, candidates and the public are invited to attend this test, which is a requirement of Washington State law. 


• Community Planning

Vancouver, WA  ̶  Capping three years of work, the Board of County Councilors Tuesday adopted a plan that will guide growth in Clark County over the next 20 years.

The 435-page Comprehensive Growth Management Plan final update now goes to the state Department of Commerce. By law, Clark County is required to complete the updated plan by June 30, 2016.


• Public Health

Vancouver, WA ‒ Swim season is off to a safe start at Klineline Pond as life jackets are replenished and lifeguards begin their duties at Klineline the last two weekends of June. Daily summer coverage starts Friday, July 1.

Klineline Pond and Marine Park Boat Launch life jacket loaner stations are stocked with more than 100 life jackets for the Safe Kids Clark County program, thanks to a donation from the International Order of the Blue Gavel Nautical Safety Foundation. The new jackets will replace worn-out, weathered and missing jackets.
