Vancouver, Wash. – The Clark County Auditor’s Office is sponsoring a campaign workshop, “Winning Ways to Run for Office – A Candidate / Campaign Worker Workshop.’’

The free workshop takes place on Tuesday, May 7, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at the Clark County Elections Office, 1408 Franklin St.

Laurie Lebowsky, council member for the city of Vancouver and Paul Greenlee, council member for the city of Washougal, will speak about making the decision to run and then campaigning for an office. Katie Archer of Archer Public Affairs and Jim Mains of High Five Media will describe what it takes to carry out an effective campaign for a candidate or issue in Clark County. Speakers also will offer helpful advice regarding political sign regulations, campaign finance, interacting with the news media, fair campaign practices and resources available at the Elections Office.

The workshop will be helpful for current candidates for public office, people considering becoming candidates, those who are working on a campaign for an issue or candidate, or who think they might in the future, as well as anyone who is interested in the topics. Time will be available for questions and answers during the program as well as during the informal reception following the workshop.

This workshop is not for the purpose of directly or indirectly assisting a campaign for election of any person to any office or for the promotion or opposition to any ballot proposition. The panelists’ comments represent their own opinions; they do not represent the view of the Clark County Auditor’s Office.
