Vancouver, WA ‒ A farewell reception for out-going county councilors Tom Mielke and David Madore will immediately follow the Tuesday, Dec. 13, meeting of the Board of County Councilors.
The council meeting begins at 10 a.m. The reception will be held in the sixth-floor Hearing Room of the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St. The event is open to the public. Light refreshments will be offered.
Councilor Mielke, who represents District 4 in north county, served four terms as a state representative from the 18th Legislative District before taking office as a county commissioner in January 2009. He was re-elected in 2013, and decided to retire when his term ends late this month. He is a former small business owner and decorated Vietnam War veteran.
Councilor Madore, who represents District 3 in east county, was elected county commissioner in November 2012 and took office in January 2013. He founded US Digital, a locally based company, and served as chief executive and engineer for more than 30 years.
As of Jan. 1, 2015, each board member's title changed to councilor after Clark County voters approved a home rule charter form of government.
The Dec. 13 meeting will be the last council meeting of 2016.
