Vancouver, Wash. – The Clark County Council is seeking nominations and applications to fill a vacant position on the three-member board that oversees Diking District No. 14.
The district is bounded by the Columbia River to the west, Lake River to the north, the western shore of Vancouver Lake to the east, and the vicinity of the intersection of Northwest Old Lower River Road and State Route 501 to the south.
Applicants must be property owners within the diking district and registered voters in the state of Washington or a designee of a private corporation that owns land in the district.
Diking district commissioners have authority to conduct business as needed to maintain and operate dike systems, purchase property, enter into contracts, and exercise powers set forth in state law. They serve six-year terms.
The appointee will serve until a person is elected at the next special district election on Feb. 4, 2020. The candidate filing period for the position is Dec. 9-13, 2019. The person elected will finish the unexpired term which ends in February 2022.
