Clark County is announcing recipients of 2021 Green Awards. The awards are presented annually to individuals, organizations and businesses for their leadership and dedication to environmental sustainability.

The 2021 Green Awards winners are:

Ellen Ives - Green Neighbor Award for a resident who exemplifies a sustainable lifestyle
Ellen rides her bike, composts in her backyard, and when she’s on-the-go she always packs a kit of reusable items to avoid single use products. 

Public Health is opening appointments for COVID-19 vaccination at the Tower Mall site to anyone who is eligible in Phase 1a or Phase 1b Tiers 1-2. The link to schedule appointments will be posted on the Public Health COVID-19 Vaccine webpage and social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter and Nextdoor) at noon today.

Consultant will present information on county policy and development regulations

The Housing Options Study and Action Plan project’s purpose is to identify housing challenges within the unincorporated Vancouver Urban Growth Area and opportunities to encourage development of housing that is affordable to a variety of household incomes through the removal of regulatory barriers and/or implementation of other strategies.

Clark County Council Chair Eileen Quiring O’Brien will present the 2021 State of the County address 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 6 on Clark Vancouver TV. The previously recorded video will be available on CVTV channel 23/323 and www.cvtv.org.

Chair O’Brien’s main discussion topic will be the county’s response to the pandemic over the past year.

The county council is foregoing its annual in-person State of the County event due to COVID-19 safety protocols.

The Clark County Fire Marshal’s Office is taking applications for three retail fireworks permits to be assigned by lottery to be held on Monday, April 5.

Fireworks cannot be sold in Clark County without a permit.

Applications for the permit lottery can be obtained at the Fire Marshal’s Office, 505 N.W. 179th St., Ridgefield, or on the county website at https://clark.wa.gov/code-administration/fire-forms-and-fees. Only one completed application may be entered per person or organization.

Public Health is opening appointments for COVID-19 vaccination at the Tower Mall site to anyone who is eligible in Phase 1a or Phase 1b Tier 1.

Over the last several days, Public Health has sent emails and called people who are on the county’s referral list to offer appointments at the Tower Mall vaccination site. However, many appointments remain unfilled.

The COVID-19 vaccination site that opened last Friday in the Tower Mall parking will continue for at least another week. The vaccination site is a collaboration between Clark County Public Health, the city of Vancouver and Safeway.

During the first week of operations, about 2,400 people were vaccinated over four days. Safeway is providing the Pfizer vaccine for the site through the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program and secured additional vaccine to continue vaccinations for another week and increase the number of available appointments.

Vancouver, Wash. – The Clark County Commission on Aging is focusing this year on the road to recovery from COVID-19, especially for people 65 and older. The coronavirus pandemic has had a significant impact on older adults in Clark County, as around the world. According to the CDC, older adults are at greater risk of requiring hospitalization or dying if they are diagnosed with COVID-19. The pandemic raised concerns regarding the health and well-being of older adults, especially the community’s most vulnerable. What have we learned so that we are better prepared in the future?

Clark County Public Health continues to work through its COVID-19 vaccine referral list to connect eligible people with facilities that have vaccine. To date, Public Health has made more than 34,000 referrals for vaccination to local providers.

Clark County Community Services, with assistance from staff at Vancouver Housing Authority (VHA) and the city of Vancouver, selected Catholic Community Services of Western Washington to operate a non-congregate shelter near Vancouver Mall for people who are unhoused. Catholic Community Services is an outreach of the Catholic Church that provides programs, shelters and services for the poorest and most vulnerable people in Western Washington.
