Stormwater Partners is proud to announce the winning entries for its second annual Students for Clean Water Video Contest. Clark County middle and high school students submitted more than 60 videos for the contest. A $500 first place and $100 honorable-mention prize has been awarded for each of the following videos in five categories:
Clark County will begin construction on Kozy Kamp Neighborhood Park on Monday, June 6. The park is located at 17410 Northeast 29th Avenue, south of Northeast 179th Street in the Fairgrounds Neighborhood.
The completed Kozy Kamp Neighborhood Park will include a playground, multi-purpose sport court, a paved and accessible loop trail, open lawn play area, and picnic tables and benches. Additionally, improvements will be made at the park boundary with Northeast 29th Avenue.
Clark County is accepting applications to fill three vacancies on the seven-member Parks Advisory Board. All three terms begin immediately. Two of the terms end Dec. 31, 2024, and one ends Dec. 31, 2025.
Board members serve three-year terms. Upon expiration of a term, a member can apply again. There is no limit on how many terms a member can serve.
Vancouver, Wash. – Beginning Monday, May 16, crews will begin to seal cracks in the roads and pave some small areas that have sunk or deteriorated. There may be some traffic delays, as travel lanes may be reduced or shifted at times or controlled by pilot car. Flaggers will help guide drivers around the work areas.
Clark County Public Works continues to seek candidates for lifeguard positions at Klineline Pond this summer. Klineline Pond at Salmon Creek Regional Park is a popular destination for families and is the only county park where lifeguards are provided during the summer months. The park also features a chlorinated “splash pad” with features for water play, which is open when lifeguards are present.
Construction of an inclusive playground and new overflow parking lot at Felida Community Park will begin Monday, April 25.
The existing overflow gravel parking lot, located just west of the park’s main entrance, will be upgraded during the first phase of construction. A Children’s Celebration Garden Playground, designed for use and enjoyment by people of all abilities will be constructed during the second phase of the project.
Clark County awarded the construction contract to NW Construction General Contracting of Battle Ground. The project is funded by park impact fees.
The intersection of Northeast 149th Street and Northeast 10th Avenue in the Salmon Creek area of Clark County will close April 25 as contractors for Clark County Public Works begin construction of several roadway improvements.
County approves DNR helicopter operations at Camp Bonneville to support wildfire suppression efforts
Vancouver, Wash. – The Clark County Council earlier this month approved an interlocal agreement with Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) allowing DNR to establish a forward operating base for helicopter operations at Camp Bonneville to support wildfire suppression efforts.
The agreement allows DNR space at Camp Bonneville for one helicopter, a fuel truck and building space for seven crew members. DNR’s helicopter operations at Camp Bonneville will assist its efforts to mitigate and improve response times for wildfires in the area.
County Manger Kathleen Otto yesterday announced her appointment of Eva Haney as the director of Clark County Public Works.
Neighbors and community members are invited to learn about upcoming construction on Northeast 68th Street, between Northeast Highway 99 and Northeast St. Johns Road, which serves a densely populated residential area. Much of the road segment has no sidewalks. This project will construct sidewalks between segments of existing sidewalks, and construct four crosswalks.
