From a family's first contact with the Children's Justice Center, we seek to prevent additional trauma while promoting safety and healing for victims and their non-offending family members.
Advocates help keep the victim and non-offending family members informed. They listen, comfort and assist them in finding healing and supportive services. CJC victim advocates also provide information about and assistance with filing crime victims' compensation claims.
Medical services
CJC has an established protocol with Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center for greater awareness of suspected child abuse cases and coordination to get victims needed health care without additional trauma.
Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center has established the Child Abuse Assessment Team (CAAT) to give victims of sexual and physical abuse specialized medical care.
Mental health services
CJC partners with the Children's Center, Children's Home Society of Washington and Family Solutions for mental health services for child victims of abuse and witnesses to violence, and their families as appropriate. The agencies provide free or low-cost mental health services to victims or non-offending family members who are eligible.
