Vancouver, Wash. – The next major project in a multiyear effort to improve the Northeast 119th Street corridor will begin Monday when a contractor closes a one-mile section of the street to through traffic.
Vancouver, Wash. – Construction will start this week on a major project to widen, connect and improve Northeast 10th Avenue, including building a bridge over Whipple Creek.
Cascade Bridge, LLC of Vancouver will improve Northeast 10th Avenue from Northeast 154th Street north to Northeast 164th Street. The project will add one travel lane in each direction, a center turn lane, bicycle lanes, sidewalks and facilities to collect and treat polluted storm runoff. Water and sanitary sewer lines will be constructed as part of the project.
Vancouver, Wash. – Clark County’s Parks Advisory Board is looking to add a couple new voices to the seven-person board.
The parks board is recruiting two youth members to serve in a non-voting capacity on the board, which advises the Board of County Councilors and county staff on parks planning, acquisition, development and related issues.
Closure to last approximately two months as part of project to improve intersection north of Orchards
Vancouver, Wash. – Construction will begin Monday, April 17, to widen and improve a portion of Northeast 99th Street.
The project will require closing Northeast 99th Street, from Northeast 117th Avenue/SR 503 to Northeast 118th Avenue, for approximately two months.
Detour signs will guide drivers around the closure, with most traffic using Northeast 95th Street and Northeast 126th Avenue.
Beginning today, $30 annual parking passes for 2017 can be purchased at three locations
Vancouver, Wash. – Clark County will resume collecting daily parking fees at four of the county’s largest regional parks starting Monday, April 3.
Next volunteer event is Thursday at the 78th Street Heritage Farm in the Hazel Dell area
The city-county program offers youth 14-19 after-school service opportunities throughout Clark County.
Two-hour work parties are planned from 3:30-5:30 p.m. the second, third and fourth Thursday of the month. The program runs from September through November and February through May.
New this year: Residents will be able to reserve picnic shelters at six community parks
Vancouver, Wash. – Residents have a little more than two weeks to reserve picnic shelters in Clark County parks before higher fees kick in at the beginning of March.
Reservation fees will increase by $25 for most picnic shelters at five regional parks: Capt. William Clark, Frenchman’s Bar, Lewisville, Salmon Creek/Klineline Pond and Vancouver Lake. Fees will increase by $50 for shelters seating more than 100 people at Frenchman’s Bar, Lewisville and Vancouver Lake regional parks.
More than 100 trees damaged or destroyed by winds
Current conditions: Exceptionally cold overnight temperatures have led to refreezing and widespread icy conditions across Clark County. More than a foot of snow remains on the ground in some areas. Major thoroughfares have been plowed but are icy in many spots. Drivers should be extremely careful and expect significant ice, packed snow and rough road conditions during Friday’s morning commute.
Vancouver, WA ̶ A project at Whipple Creek Regional Park in conjunction with Martin Luther King Jr. day has been postponed because of the deep snow that has blanketed Clark County.
The event is rescheduled for 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Jan. 21. At it, participants will remove plant protectors from a mitigation planting site and cut blackberries from a future planting area.
Volunteers should wear long pants, closed-toe shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. Tools, gloves and light refreshments will be provided.
