This week, Clark County Public Works is launching a campaign about driving safely in roadway work zones. The campaign is part of a pilot project and will test several strategies to share work zone safety messages with drivers.
Clark County Public Works, Parks and Lands division is beginning a forest health thinning project at Spud Mountain, a Legacy Lands property. Spud Mountain is located north of Washougal and east of Hockinson. Thinning operations are expected to begin in 2024.
Clark County Public Health has lifted its advisory at Vancouver Lake. Water samples collected from the lake show water quality has improved over the last two weeks and toxin levels are no longer elevated.
The intersection of Northeast 99th Street and Northeast 107th Avenue will be closed to traffic beginning Monday, Aug. 14 for construction of a roundabout. The closure is expected to last 20 working days (through Sept. 2). Exact closure start and end dates are weather dependent.
Signs and flaggers will direct traffic onto a detour. Drivers will be directed onto Northeast 105th Avenue on the east side and Northeast 110th Avenue on the west side of the closure.
Every election, the Clark County Auditor’s Office provides an online and printed voters’ guide with information about candidates and ballot measures for voters to make an informed decision when voting. The November General voters’ guide includes a local ballot measure with supporting and opposing statements written by citizens.
Clark County Community Services is working on updating its Strategic Plan. As part of the update, Community Services is asking stakeholders, partners and collaborators to complete a strategic planning survey.

Klineline Pond at Salmon Creek Regional Park will be closed Thursday, Aug. 3 and Tuesday, Aug. 8 for parking lot repairs. The pond area of the park will be inaccessible to visitors. The closure will allow crews to resurface and restripe the parking lot. Visitors are reminded to avoid work sites and never enter areas that are closed with ropes, cones, signs, barricades or other devices.
The board of the Clark County Public Facilities District will hold a public meeting 4-5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 7, 2023.
Clark County Public Works, Parks and Lands division is hosting an open house about the future Minnehaha Neighborhood Park, 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9. Participants can join in person or online. The park property is located on Northeast 17th Avenue, north of Northeast Minnehaha Street.
Clark County recognizes that older adults are valuable contributors to the vitality of this community. To encourage and support older adults for their contributions to their communities, the Clark County Commission on Aging established a program to recognize older adults by means of an annual award presented at a Commission on Aging event.
